The Association

The Swiss Sailing League Association (SSLA) is the driving force behind competitive club sailing in Switzerland. As the official organiser of the Swiss Sailing League and Swiss Women’s Sailing League, the association brings together sailing clubs from across the country in a unique format that combines teamwork, tactical racing and sporting excellence.

Founded in Zurich in 2015, the SSLA was created with a clear vision: to make club sailing more accessible, competitive and attractive for sailors, clubs and spectators alike.

Today, the league provides a platform where Switzerland’s best sailing clubs compete on identical J/70 boats in short, high-intensity races. By focusing on skill, teamwork and strategy rather than equipment, the format delivers fair competition and exciting racing at every event.

Beyond the regattas themselves, the SSLA is committed to developing the sport through training opportunities, coaching initiatives and knowledge exchange between clubs. By supporting sailors at every stage of their journey, the association helps strengthen the future of Swiss sailing.

The league also serves as a pathway to international competition, with the top-performing clubs earning the opportunity to represent Switzerland at events such as the SAILING Champions League and other leading international club championships.

Supported by dedicated volunteers, officials, clubs and partners, the Swiss Sailing League Association continues to grow the sport and inspire the next generation of sailors across Switzerland.

The Board is responsible for the strategic and operational management of the association, including sporting operations, event organisation, logistics, communication, finance and development projects. The Board members contribute their work entirely on a voluntary basis.

The Advisory Board supports the association with expertise, continuity and strategic guidance. Its members contribute valuable experience from sailing, sports management and club development.
