We are planning the next season of women sailing!

Scenario 1 (preferred): Super League & open Challenge League

Women’s Super League

As before with 12 teams, in the proven Swiss Championship format.

Women’s Challenge League

We propose more flexible entry conditions to make it easier to join and to attract new teams:

  • At least 10 teams, ideally 12.
  • The registering club must be a member of the Swiss Sailing League Association (SSLA).
  • NEW: Each team must include at least two sailors from the registering club. The remaining crew members may belong to other clubs.
  • Clubs may register two teams: one in the Super League and one in the Challenge League, or two in the Challenge League.
  • Sailors from the Women’s Super League may take part once per season in a Challenge League event for their own club.
  • Promotion to the Super League is only possible if the team meets the Super League participation requirements (all crew members belong to the same club).

Planned race calendar

EventDateLocation
Women’s Super League – Act I1–2 MayZurich
Women’s Challenge League – Act I8–9 MayZurich
Women’s Super League – Final27–29 AugustDavos
Women’s Challenge League – Final3–5 SeptemberLucerne

We are doing everything we can to have enough teams for the Women’s Challenge League 2027. We are counting on you!

Scenario 2 (alternative): Joint Women’s League

If not enough teams register for the Women’s Challenge League, we will consider a joint Women’s League in which Super League and Challenge League teams sail together:

  • 16–21 teams
  • Two events for all teams
  • All sailors of a team must belong to the same club (same rules as the Super League).

Planned race calendar

EventDateLocation
Women’s League – Act I1–2 MayZurich
Women’s League – Final27–29 AugustDavos

Zurich: We are looking into providing nine boats so that more races can be sailed per flight. The logistics are not yet confirmed.

Davos: The lake is too small for nine boats, but the wind conditions there normally allow a good number of races.

Deadlines

  • 31 December 2026: Binding registration of teams via Manage2sail.
  • 15 January 2027: Decision on the final league format and confirmation of the race calendar.

Challenge League teams that would only take part under Scenario 1 should contact marlene.rump@swiss-sailing-league.ch.
